Head of Business Finance

Are you a strategic and hands-on senior finance leader ready to shape the financial future of a growing global pharmaceutical company? ALK is seeking a dynamic Head of Business Finance; a high-level strategic and operational role within ALK focusing on the financial health and business strategy alignment of the organization realizing our ambitious Allergy+ strategy.

This newly created, strategic role will lead the Business Finance function covering the following disciplines of business finance:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis and Strategic Finance; covering budgeting and forecasting, strategic resource allocation, performance analysis and reporting, scenario planning, BD/M&A financial support, long-term financial planning.
  • Commercial Finance; covering Finance Business Partnering towards our Commercial EVP and the markets across the globe with a focus on acting as the bridge between finance and commercial leadership driving revenue growth, profitability, and commercial effectiveness.
  • Finance Business Partnering; covering our R&D Global Strategy & Business Development, and Staff's EVP areas.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be a key financial advisor to the Board of Directors and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), instrumental in setting the financial direction for the company.

You will be based in Hørsholm (north of Copenhagen), have a leadership team comprising 4-5 Directors/Senior Directors each having a distinct area of expertise and responsibility in the business finance disciplines mentioned above. Further, you will be an integrated part of the CFO leadership team together with 5 SVPs/VPs each responsible for respectively Corporate Finance & Shared Services, Global Procurement, Global IT, Investor Relations, and Legal & Compliance.

The role – in detail

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a proven track record in strategic or/and commercial financial leadership, business partnering, and team development within a global context.

The ideal candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on executor, capable of driving high impact and contributing directly to ALK's future success within the following areas:

  • Strategic finance leadership: Act as a key financial advisor to the CFO, ELT, and Board of Directors, providing strategic financial analysis and insights to support decision-making aligned with the Allergy+ strategy.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the development and execution of comprehensive financial planning processes, including both short- and long-term financial plans, annual budgets, strategic capital & resource allocation and forecasting, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial ambitions.
  • Performance management: Own and drive the strategic Balanced Scorecard (BSC) process, establishing and monitoring KPIs to track progress against strategic goals and ALK's financial ambitions.
  • Executive financial reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of timely and insightful internal financial reports to the ELT, Board of Directors, and EVP areas, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Global business partnering development: Lead and develop the global Finance Business Partnering functions for Commercial, R&D, and Staff functions, ensuring proactive financial support, challenge, and value creation across these critical areas.
  • Digital finance transformation: In collaboration with corporate finance champion and lead initiatives to digitalize and optimize finance processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the delivery of advanced business insights.
  • Business Development and M&A support: Provide critical financial analysis, due diligence, and strategic support for business development projects, including potential mergers and acquisitions, in alignment with ALK's growth objectives.
  • Team leadership and development: Lead and manage a global team of approximately 30 finance professionals located primarily in Europe and the US, fostering a high-performance culture through effective coaching, development, and empowerment.
  • Stakeholder management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with executive and senior management stakeholders across the organization, acting as a trusted financial partner and providing constructive challenge.

In your daily work, you will work closely together with the Head of Corporate Finance & Shared Services to ensure seamless collaboration and high-quality deliverables across the Global Finance organisation.

Your qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's degree (or similar) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance roles with increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in classical finance functions as mentioned above.
  • Significant experience in executive and senior-level finance business partnering within a global organization.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • International work experience and fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working within the pharmaceutical or medico industry in global companies of similar – or bigger – size and complexity to ALK.
  • Experience supporting business development activities, including financial analysis for potential mergers and acquisitions.
  • Familiar with digital finance transformation initiatives and the implementation of financial systems.
