Translational Data Scientist for Disease & Clinical Trial modelling

We are hiring a Lead Scientist to assist in designing clinical trials through simulations and modelling - and to lead how we use and build data science and AI capability to turn complex clinical data into clear, reliable, and actionable insights.

In this role, you’ll apply advanced statistical, mechanistic, and AI-driven modelling to turn trial data - both structured and free text - into robust, actionable insights. You’ll work closely with our Data Science & Bioinformatics and Clinical Data Science teams in R&D, helping build a learning-focused, and adaptable digital culture that questions assumptions, tests ideas, and turns data into action.

What you’ll do

  • Apply statistical models, dynamic modelling, time-to-event analysis, symbolic regression and practical machine learning to generate robust dose–response insights and identify patient subgroups to strengthen planning and evaluation for the trial and build capability for future studies.
  • Perform Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) or other mechanistic modelling to evaluate the dynamic effect of drug candidates.
  • Optimize ways of collecting and structuring new data in ongoing and future trials.
  • Combine structured trial data and free-text sources (like adverse event narratives) into clean, analysis-ready datasets.
  • Design and deliver data communication tools such as dashboards and regular reports for project teams and safety committees, making complex results easy to act on.
  • Promote a practical, value-focused use of digital, AI and statistical/modelling tools, helping teams adopt and adapt as the science and tech evolve.
  • Explore and test advanced AI approaches — including agents or new modelling tools — to directly assist and improve our development program.

What you bring

  • A strong background in data science, bioinformatics, or biostatistics, with hands-on experience working with clinical or biomedical data.
  • Practical experience in clinical data analysis and modelling, such as dose-response, categorical endpoints, or time-to-event/survival methods - plus interest in applying modern AI to real trial data.
  • Familiarity with clinical data standards (e.g. SDTM datasets) and best practices for preparing data for robust analyses.
  • Working knowledge of data mining techniques and curiosity to apply foundational models or AI agents to explore large, complex datasets and generate data-driven hypotheses.
  • Hands-on skills with machine learning, NLP for text mining, or symbolic regression - or a strong motivation to expand into these areas.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, with some experience using SAS; comfortable working in cloud-based data platforms like Databricks.
  • (Bonus) Exposure to disease modelling or enthusiasm for learning about immunological mechanisms relevant to allergy treatment.
  • A proactive, curious mindset - eager to question assumptions, test ideas, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex results in simple, meaningful terms and present insights clearly through visualizations, dashboards, and reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
