Global Public Affairs (Associated) Director

The position
As Global Public Affairs (Associated) Director you take up a truly global position and will be reporting to the Head of Market Access and Public Affairs.

You will in the position as Global Public Affairs (Associated) Director be responsible for shaping and executing ALK’s public affairs strategy to support business objectives, particularly in relation to policy, regulatory, and stakeholder environments. This role will lead strategic engagement with key external stakeholders/associations — including policymakers, patient organizations, trade associations, etc.

As part of the Market Access & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally with Market Access, Pricing, Health Economics and Outcomes research but also with global, regional and local Commercial teams to drive an integrated approach to stakeholder management and policy shaping.

Your key responsibilities cover:

Policy Strategy & Advocacy

  • Develop and execute proactive public affairs and policy strategies in support of product launches, pricing/reimbursement initiatives, and corporate positioning.
  • Monitor and analyze healthcare policy trends, regulatory developments, and legislation at national and EU levels.
  • Shape external policy debates to support the company’s access and innovation agenda, including HTA, pricing reform, digital health, and value-based care.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., policymakers, health authorities, patient advocacy groups, trade associations).
  • Represent the company in relevant industry associations and working groups.
  • Organize and lead policy roundtables, stakeholder briefings, and advocacy campaigns to advance corporate priorities.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Communications, and global/local Commercial teams to ensure alignment of public affairs activities with broader corporate and product objectives.
  • Support the development of country-specific stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with affiliates or partners.
  • Provide policy expertise and briefings to internal stakeholders and senior management.

External Communications & Reputation Management

  • Support development of corporate messages and positions on key public policy issues.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications on media and thought leadership opportunities related to policy and access.

 

Your profile
You bring strategic agility and a political acumen alongside ethical judgement and compliance skills with commitment to upholding standards and regulatory compliance in all activities.

We expect that you have:

  • Master’s degree in political science, public policy, health economics, law, life sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in public affairs, government relations, health policy, or related roles, ideally in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare sector.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, pricing and reimbursement, and policy-making processes in key markets (EU experience a strong plus).
  • Demonstrated success in engaging with policy stakeholders and leading advocacy campaigns.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
