Project Director, Global Clinical Development

The position
As Project Director, you will be the one-point-of-contact and lead global drug development projects and teams across ALK. This includes projects in multiple therapy areas and at all stages of development (from late-stage discoveries through clinical development and Life Cycle Management). This position holds high strategic value for ALK to ensure optimal execution of two important product developments in early and late development. Both projects are set to play a key role within ALK’s Allergy+ strategy to deliver breakthrough therapies for people with allergy and adjacent diseases.  

In this position, you will join the R&D organisation in ALK and and serve as part of the Global Clinical Development leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Clinical Development.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead global drug development projects, ensure clear governance and alignment with portfolio priorities, and act as the strategic anchor guiding cross-disciplinary teams toward successful delivery
  • Demonstrate a portfolio mindset in strategies and decisions to maximise projects aligned with the overall therapy area strategy
  • Be accountable to relevant governance boards for the progress of activities in accordance with approved deliverables, milestones and resources
  • Align development strategy and objectives and identify and mitigate risks with regards to resources, budgets and timelines in coordination with cross-functional senior management teams
  • Foster a culture of scientific innovation and agility in drug development to enhance speed and efficiency
  • Act as the project voice and primary contact for internal and external stakeholders

Your key tasks will be to:

  • Maintain stakeholder agreement through progress reports, issue escalation and resolution recommendation to relevant governance boards 
  • Lead diverse, high performing teams managing large cross-functional strategic and/or clinical development projects
  • Provide indirect leadership to global project teams, guiding and coaching project managers in overseeing and managing their functional teams
  • Facilitate cross-functional cooperation and communication across ALK and with external stakeholders
  • Define development objectives, establish project plans (including Project Master Plan) and report progress to relevant governance boards
  • Be responsible for project budgets and defined financial targets
  • Conduct project meetings, record actions, follow up and take charge of outcomes
  • Develop and review strategically relevant documents (e.g. regulatory strategy, clinical development plans, TPP, NDAs/BLAs) to ensure cross functional alignment

 

Your profile
We expect that you have:

  • A Master’s degree in Natural/Biological Sciences, MD or an equivalent qualification
  • 5-10 years’ experience within Drug Development, preferably across R&D functions
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, preferably with managerial experience
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and multiculturally
  • A curious and creative mindset, enjoying complexity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 

As this is a global role, international travel should be expected.
