The position
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join ALK’s Legal & Compliance team at our headquarters in Hørsholm, Denmark. This newly created role reflects ALK’s expanding pipeline of partnerships, licensing agreements, R&D investments, distribution agreements, and strategic procurement initiatives, as well as the ongoing need for agile day-to-day legal support.

This is a highly independent, hands-on role combining responsibility for leading high-value transactions and building robust contracting standards to support ALK’s global growth.  It offers a unique opportunity to apply your legal expertise in a commercial context while contributing to a wide variety of exciting matters within the pharmaceutical industry.

You will:

• Lead legal workstreams in M&A, licensing, partnerships (including distribution arrangements), and R&D investment transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including major procurement agreements, while also handling day-to-day matters.
• Provide pragmatic legal advice across ALK’s business functions to ensure compliant and business-oriented decision making.
• Liaise with and manage external counsel to ensure quality, speed, and cost efficiency.
• Develop and maintain contract standards, negotiation playbooks, and practical tools to strengthen execution.
• Support senior management and cross-functional teams on strategic legal matters.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the VP, Legal & Compliance, who reports directly to the Executive Vice President & CFO and leads a highly efficient global team of five skilled and dedicated specialists and one student, with members based in Denmark, the U.S, and China. From your base in Hørsholm HQ, you will be a trusted partner to Business Development, Procurement, R&D, International Markets and senior leadership.

Your qualifications
In order to be successful in the role, we expect your main qualifications and experience to be in line with:

• Master of Law (cand.jur./cand.merc.jur.) or equivalent.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house roles.
• Strong track record in M&A, licensing, R&D investments and strategic partnerships, preferably in pharma or other regulated industries.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts and standard terms.
• Confidence in managing complex legal matters independently, with direct exposure to senior management.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to simplify complex legal issues.
• International mindset and fluency in written and spoken English.
