ALK-Abelló A/S ALK-Abelló A/S ALK-Abelló A/S ALK-Abelló A/S

Senior Full Stack Developer

With 100 years of history, ALK is on an ambitious journey to become the preferred allergy company globally. Since 2018, we have been investing heavily in digital consumer-facing activities, and in 2022, we began focusing on expanding digital prescribers (doctors) base. Since then, we are working on infrastructure projects to connect our B2B and B2C ecosystems, enhancing the overall web & app experiences.

Our Digital Customer Engagement & Digital Excellence department takes a holistic approach to consumer and doctor interactions, ensuring the right patient meets the right doctor at the right time. Through web engagement tools, apps, webinars, and innovative partnerships, such as AI chatbots on allergy clinic websites, we aim to provide simple yet effective solutions for people living with allergies and the doctors who treat them.

The team operates globally in markets such as Germany, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Slovakia, and Canada, with more to come. To support this journey, we’re looking for a new Senior Full Stack Developer to join our Digital Customer Engagement team.

The position

As a Senior Full Stack Developer working on our next-generation global CMS platform, you will play a key role in the technical implementation of a multi-brand, multi-region content infrastructure. Our platform is built around Sulu CMS (Symfony-based) and integrates content delivery, editorial tooling, DevOps automation, and AI-assisted workflows.

You will work closely with our in-house Solution Architect, a dedicated frontend developer, and agency partners to shape the technical architecture, implement robust backend features, and ensure the platform remains scalable, clean, and future-proof.

Your role will involve both backend and light frontend development, contributing to an efficient, well-structured hybrid architecture (Twig + potential headless).

Key Responsibilities

1. Application Development in Symfony + Sulu

  • Design and build backend features in Symfony (Sulu CMS framework) with clean, scalable code.
  • Extend and customize CMS functionality using Sulu content blocks, structures, and custom components.
  • Implement hybrid frontend logic using Twig templates with frontend components (React or native JS if needed).
  • Follow clean code and architectural principles (e.g. DDD-lite, SOLID, reusable modules).

2. Architecture, Standards, and System Thinking

  • Collaborate with the architect and technical leads to shape a modular, future-ready CMS core.
  • Participate in key architectural decisions and system evolution across multiple brands and markets.
  • Ensure the solution supports localization, brand theming, scalable content structures, and future headless/API readiness.

3. Integration and DevOps Awareness

  • Contribute to development of integrations with external platforms, including APIs, marketing tools, and editorial services.
  • Understand the structure of CI/CD pipelines, container-based deployments (e.g. Docker, Azure App Services), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) – no need to maintain, but ability to collaborate with DevOps team.
  • Contribute to structured documentation and ensure code maintainability at scale.

4. Collaboration with Internal and External Teams

  • Work with content and frontend developers, PMs, and our global agency to deliver features on time and with consistent quality.
  • Review PRs and suggest improvements in code structure and system design.
  • Participate in standups, retrospectives, and async collaboration using tools like GitHub, ClickUp, and Figma.

Our Tech Stack

  • Backend: PHP 8+, Symfony 6+, Sulu CMS, Doctrine
  • Frontend: Twig, HTML, JS, optionally React
  • CI/CD & Infra: GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Terraform, Docker
  • Content APIs & Tools: Headless-ready structure, composable content blocks
  • AI integration: Prompt-based tooling and dev automation pipelines (optional to use)

What we’re looking for

  • Solid experience in PHP backend development, with a strong focus on Symfony (Sulu CMS is a plus, or willingness to learn).
  • Architectural mindset – ability to see the “big picture” and think modularly.
  • Clean code enthusiast – you care about code quality, reusability, and standards.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps concepts (CI/CD, containers, environments), even if not hands-on.
  • Understanding of hybrid architectures – server-rendered views (Twig) coexisting with potential for API-first.
  • Proficiency in API integration, content-driven development, and component reusability.
  • Strong communication skills in English – this is a cross-market project with multiple stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-language or multi-brand CMS platforms
  • Exposure to headless CMS patterns or static site generators
  • Interest in AI-assisted workflows and modern tooling
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring, DX tooling or content analytics
