The position
As Director for our Global Medical & Science organisation, you will lead a team of 6 highly skilled MDs and MSs and be the medical and scientific responsible for the global clinical development strategies across the ALK portfolio of projects.  In this position, you will join the Global R&D organisation in ALK and and serve as part of the Global Clinical Development leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Clinical Development. 

Your primary responsibilities will be to lead and develop a diverse, high performing team of skilled medical and scientific people, alongside acting as medical science lead with focus on building medical and clinical competences to expand ALK’s leadership in allergy and related areas. You will ensure medical and clinical expertise to pipeline projects and LCM projects and proactively liaise with peers in the leadership group as well as other cross-functional leaders in Clinical Development, to ensure cohesion of the leadership team.

Your key tasks will be to:

  • Develop and lead the clinical development strategy and study designs to support the SVP, Global Clinical Development in securing innovative, patient-centric, cost effective and scientifically robust plans that allow regulatory approvability and commercial attractiveness for new products.
  • Take active responsibility for securing strong cross-functional collaboration between stakeholders in Project Teams within Project Development Plan (PDP) work.
  • Contribute to the development of PDPs in collaboration with the Clinical Operations & Clinical Reporting function.
  • Provide medical and clinical insight for the PDP for a drug candidate from non-clinic to phase 1-4.
  • Have the overall medical responsibility during the execution of clinical programs described in the Clinical section of the PDP.
  • Generate high-level clinical documents incl. expert reports for submission of new drug applications worldwide.
  • Provide input to trial budget, site selection and relevant contract management as required.
  • Provide medical and clinical expertise across the therapeutic areas and be the internal and external spokesperson for medical aspects of a given project or drug development.
  • Support pre- and post-submission regulatory or market access activities to achieve regulatory approval, optimal labelling and health economy data to allow successful launch of the drug.
  • Convey clinical expertise to scientific experts internally and externally.
  • Provide clinical judgment and justification of all aspects of drug development.
  • Negotiate/influence clinical aspects of label with regulatory authorities.
  • Support trial execution by working closely with the Clinical Operations & Clinical Reporting function, other functions and stakeholders.

As this is a global role, international travel should be expected.

 

Your profile
We expect that you have:

  • An MD, PhD with at least 3 years clinical experience after medical school.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience.
  • Profound leadership and mentorship capabilities from proven managerial experience.
  • Developed stakeholder management and communication skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and multiculturally.
  • A curious and creative mindset, enjoying complexity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
