Laboratory Systems & Digitalization Specialist
Are you experienced with laboratory systems, qualification, or validation—and motivated by improving laboratory workflows through data and digital solutions? Do you enjoy working at the intersection of laboratory science, systems, and data in a regulated environment?
ALK is a global pharmaceutical company specialized in allergy immunotherapy. We are currently strengthening our capabilities within laboratory systems and digitalization in Analytical Development and are looking for a Laboratory Systems & Digitalization Specialist to join our team.
In this role, you will work hands-on with laboratory systems, ensuring they are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose, while also contributing to our ongoing digitalization journey. You will combine system lifecycle management, validation, and continuous improvements with the opportunity to support how laboratory processes, data workflows, and future digital solutions are implemented.
As part of an area in development, you will contribute to building and evolving our digital laboratory landscape, working at the intersection of laboratory science, systems, and data. Your work will help ensure that our laboratory systems not only support daily operations but also develop in line with future needs.
If you are motivated by working with complex systems, improving how things are done, and contributing to the gradual development of modern laboratory solutions in a regulated environment, this is a great opportunity to grow your impact and expertise.
The Position
You will join the Laboratory Automation Development team within Analytical Development and work closely with colleagues across Global CMC, the Research area, Product Supply, QC, IT, and QA. The team is responsible for the implementation, qualification, and lifecycle management of analytical instruments and laboratory systems, and play an important role in supporting digitalization and automation initiatives across the organization.
You will be involved in maintaining laboratory systems in a validated and compliant state within a regulated (GxP) environment, including handling changes, upgrades, and continuous improvements. In parallel, you will work with qualification of analytical instruments and validation of computerized systems, including preparation and maintenance of documentation.
At the same time, you will contribute to our digitalization journey by supporting the development of laboratory data workflows and participating in activities related to system selection and implementation. Through this, you will help ensure that laboratory systems and data solutions continue to evolve in line with both operational and future needs.
Your responsibilities:
- Drive and support digitalization initiatives within Global CMC, Analytical Development, focusing on laboratory processes, data flows, and system-supported workflows.
- Manage and support laboratory IT systems (e.g. LIMS, ELN, analytical software platforms) across their lifecycle.
- Lead or contribute to implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of laboratory systems.
- Perform qualification of analytical instruments and validation of computerized systems in GxP environments.
- Prepare and maintain validation documentation, including risk assessments, protocols, and reports.
- Ensure systems remain in a validated and compliant state throughout their lifecycle.
- Act as subject matter expert on data models, data structures, and database solutions for laboratory applications.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across analytical labs, IT, QA, QC, and external vendors.
- Support audits and inspections as system and data expert.
Your profile
You have a degree in engineering, natural sciences (e.g. biotechnology, chemistry), or a related field and you have hands-on experience with laboratory systems, qualification/validation, or system lifecycle management in regulated environments (GxP/GMP) combined with experience working with LIMS, ELN, or similar laboratory systems.
Furthermore, you:
- Have good understanding of data, databases, and system-supported workflows.
- Are skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Have experience applying data and digital solutions to improve laboratory workflows.
- Take ownership and actively contribute to improving systems, workflows, and data handling in practice.
- Are comfortable working across disciplines, bridging laboratory science, systems, and data.
- Are structured and quality-focused, with a strong sense of responsibility in a regulated environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
